Durham's downtown area is undergoing some dramatic changes with important affordable housing developments on the way.  The DHA Downtown and Neighborhood Plan (DDNP) was initiated from a partnership between the City of Durham, Durham County and DHA, to collectively focus on nearly 60 acres of publicly owned land in downtown Durham to develop a single development framework
that simultaneously addresses the needs of all parties.

The preparation for DDNP began in 2017.  We are currently in Phase 4: finalize and implement plan.

The DHA Downtown and Neighborhood Plan preserves and develops over 2,400 mixed-income units to serve residents at various Area Median Incomes (AMI) in apartment complexes with bedroom sizes ranging from studios to three-bedrooms.
