Last week was a milestone for DHA’s DNI staff as families toured their soon-to-be new homes! We also visited a completed CNI community in Winston-Salem, seeing firsthand the power of transformation. We’re excited for what’s ahead!

Throwback to our Commerce Street Groundbreaking! We’re proud of the progress we’ve made since then, continuing construction, building our stem wall, and establishing storm drainage. Special thanks to Jasmine from Eat Well Inc, who recently led a cooking class at Laurel Oaks! Jasmine shared expertise and passion for healthy cooking and granted residents valuable insight into nutrition that will benefit their daily living.

Do you want to be an artist? DHA’s Jobs Plus team invited Professor Brian Gonzales from NCCU to host an event titled “Professional Art & What it Takes” at the TA Grady Center! Residents learned how to find art opportunities, begin building a professional reputation, and expand their career pathways following a passion.

Throwback to our 2023 READS scholarship Ceremony! Each year, our scholars receive a $1,500 scholarship to support them on their academic journeys and an invitation to celebrate their accomplishments. Durham Housing Authority and CVS Health Break Ground on New Affordable Housing Community

On April 11 at Hayti Heritage Center, representatives of the Durham Housing Authority and Durham Community Partners hosted an open house to share details about Fayette Place, a new multi-family residential development just south of downtown. The public event was a highly anticipated update to many previous community feedback sessions on the progress of an important tear-down and rebuild that is a centerpiece of the DHA’s Downtown & Neighborhood Plan.
