The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Durham ("DHA") announced today the mutual separation of Anthony Scott from the role of Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of DHA, effective December 19, 2024. The Board and Mr. Scott reached this decision through a collaborative process.
This mutual agreement marks the conclusion of Mr. Scott's 8 ½ year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of DHA, in which the agency realized tremendous success in the preservation and development of affordable housing within the City of Durham. The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Scott for his outstanding dedication and leadership during his term of service.
The Board also announced that Anthony Snell will serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Snell is currently DHA's Director of Real Estate. He has served in this capacity since 2020. Prior to serving at DHA, Mr. Snell was the Executive Director of Metropolitan Housing Alliance (Little Rock Housing Authority) in Little Rock, Arkansas. "I join my fellow Commissioners in extending my gratitude to Mr. Scott for his invaluable contributions to DHA's success, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors," said Mayme Webb Bledsoe, Chair of the DHA Board of Commissioners. "During this transition period, we will remain focused on DHA's core mission and are confident that Anthony Snell's leadership will position the agency for continued success."
"With several million dollars being invested in the preservation of our existing public housing communities, I look forward to DHA's continued progress in enhancing these vital neighborhoods," said Anthony Scott. "I also want to extend my gratitude to Durham's citizens and civic leaders for their strong support of DHA's bold approach to preserving and expanding affordable housing through the ongoing $800 million redevelopment of our downtown properties. Finally, I want to express my thanks to DHA residents and staff for our collective efforts to improve the lives of our neighbors."
