Resident Council Training Program
The Resident Council Training Program is designed to build strong leadership for Durham Housing Authority Resident Councils and Resident Management Corporation. By addressing recurrent issues of recruiting, training and retaining viable resident councils, this program will provide clarification of roles among council leaders and members, provide training in conflict management, consensus building, council administration and leadership skills.
Resident Council Community Liaison Program
The Resident Council Community Liaison Program is designed to involve residents of each community in programs that will increase resident participation in resident councils and DHA programs.
Youth Life Learning Center
The Youth Life Learning Center addresses the educational, social, vocational and spiritual needs of the Cornwallis Community. The center is staffed with a program director, certified teachers, student volunteers (college), community leaders/ volunteers to help with academic, social and spiritual needs.
National Night Out
National Night Out is a program designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships. On the first Tuesday in August, residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
Operation Breakthrough
Operation Breakthrough (Headstart) Two Headstart sites are operating in two DHA communities.
