The American Dream
Under the HOPE VI program (Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere), DHA offers the opportunity for public housing residents to go through the Homeownership Institute, learning about budgeting, planning and credit protection. Following a pre-screening interview, applicants are assigned to the standard track (26 hours of training) or FastTrack (9 hours of training). Using the HUD-approved MoneySmart curriculum and with the help of area lenders, our graduates are often pre-approved for mortgages when they complete the program.
